Beim "Eee PC" von Asus handelt es sich um ein überaus handliches Notebook, das dem User als ständiger Begleiter dienen soll und einen schnellen Zugriff auf das Internet oder seine E-Mails erlaubt. Der Eee PC wurde der Öffentlichkeit erstmals im August präsentiert. Den europäischen Preis für das Gerät gibt Asus mit 299 Euro an. In dem kleinen Gerät ist ein LCD-Display mit einer Bilddiagonalen von sieben Zoll verbaut. Der Monitor bietet eine Auflösung von 800 mal 480 Bildpunkten. Als Herzstück schlägt ein Celeron-M-Low-Voltage-Prozessor, der mit 900 Megahertz getaktet ist. Als Arbeitsspeicher stehen 512 Megabyte zur Verfügung. Alle Daten werden auf einer vier Gigabyte großen Solid-State-Disk gespeichert.

Asus präsentierte auf der Computex seine Variante eines besonders kostengünstigen Mini-Notebooks, den EeePC, in zwei Versionen. Die drei "E" stehen für das Konzept hinter dem Gerät: Easy to learn, easy to play, easy to work. Prozessor und Chipsatz sind von Intel, als Betriebssystem kommt ein angepasstes Linux zum Einsatz.
